How to collect Avios with Aer Lingus

You don’t have to be flying regularly to make use of the Avios points system that can help you reduce the ever increasing cost of travel. The fact that you can earn points through your everyday spending is great.

How to collect points

Aer Lingus uses the Avios points system/loyalty scheme. All you have to do is register as an Aer Club Member. You will then earn Avios every time you fly with the airline. You can also earn  Avios through your everyday spending with over 150 brands. From brands such as Nike, M&S, Addidas, ASOS and Lululemon to department stores such as Brown Thomas and Arnotts and hotel booking websites such as Booking.com and Agoda each time you spend you will earn points. The amount of points you earn varies but all are listed in the Aerclub app which also keeps track of your points as you earn them. I have earned over 10,000 points in a relatively short space of time solely from daily spending.  You can also collect points using the Aer Lingus credit card through Bank of Ireland. You earn Avios when you use the card and there are other benefits given including lounge passes, airport fast track and a limited number of free European flights where you only pay taxes, fees and charges.

How to spend points

You can use your Avios to get money off Aer Lingus flights or to book a reward flight where your Avios would cover the full cost of the flight. It is possible to upgrade to Business Class on transatlantic flights using your Avios points. You can also transfer your Avios to British Airways. All you need to do is log in to your British Airways account and select ‘Combine My Avios’

If you live in Ireland and like to travel get signed up and start earning points straight away.
